// August 24th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized // Uncategorized
Meet up in Fife at the Pick Quick burger (4306 Pac Hwy E) at 10:45am. Drive to Sunrise via SR410 (through Puyallup, Enumclaw). It’ll be about 70+ miles. We’ll be making several scenic stops along the way. Average seat time should be about 30 minutes at a time. Great route, good pavement conditions. Bring your own food this time, since I have no idea what the facilities situation is up there. Great short hikes and view points, so wear comfortable shoes sunglasses and bring your sunblock!
Kitsap County crew get together at the Purdy park & ride at 9:46am. we’ll be taking off at 10:02′ish.
Bring digital camera and video recorders, and share! Remember that we live in the best driving country in THE WORLD! Let’s have some fun!!

The Safest Car Ever Built – from ~1980
// May 27th, 2010 // No Comments » // Car Stuff // Car Stuff
Check out this “safe” ride that no one ever bought:

Thirty-five years ago, the U.S. government built a fleet of cars that were safer than anything on the road. Twenty-five years ago, the government shredded them in secret. Two escaped the crusher. This is their story.
[...]
The result: Three swamp-monster sedans of more than 5000 pounds apiece that did double-duty as safe transportation and appetite suppressants. The October 1972 issue of Popular Mechanics laid out the details: Roof-mounted periscopes; bumpers wide enough to haul Dom Deluise; and in the GM model, a rear-seat “credenza,” so back-seat passengers would be protected in crashes by smacking into a vinyl-covered bosom.

Showroom Nissan GT-R catches fire
// May 25th, 2010 // No Comments » // Car Stuff // Car Stuff
A $90,000 2010 Nissan GT-R is now burnt to a crisp, likely due to a fallen showroom light. Apparently the security guard tried to stop the fire, but couldn’t get into the building. Go figure.
“It’s unusual for a car to catch fire in a closed building,” Davis said. Oh, really?

// May 5th, 2010 // No Comments » // Car Stuff // Car Stuff
Looks like Lamborghini’s replacement for the Murciélago is hitting the test tracks. About the same size as the Murciélago, the new car (rumored to be called the “Jota”) supposedly has a much lighter frame, new all-wheel drive system, and a more powerful V12 making around 700hp. Check out the original post here.

From egmCarTech:
From The Ferrari 599XX, which provides the basis for the new Ferrari 599 GTO, became the first ever production-derived sports car to break the 7-minute barrier on the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, lapping the famous track in 6:58.16.
Pretty awesome to see this beautiful car in action. The new 599XX is equipped with a 6L V12, making 700hp and 479 lb-ft. of torque, and also has a new F1 inspired transmission that can change gears in 60 milliseconds.
